Is leadership ability something you are born with? What is true in here? Is it just a myth?</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>There are different approaches to address the issue of whether managers have certain innate traits that define them as great leaders or simply, they are professionals who have opted for training and continuous development of leadership skills (they have made themselves themselves as managers).</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><strong>Leaders are born</strong></p>\n<p>Under this perspective, there are people more destined to assume the leadership role and they seem to have a certain predisposition to hold management positions within organizations. According to this vision, there are certain features that differentiate them from the rest:</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Ambition and energy.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Desire to direct.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Honesty and integrity</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Self confidence</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Intelligence and knowledge of the environment.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>In any case, and beyond these specific characteristics, these people are referents in their organization and are managed from a charismatic leadership, with which they gain authority and dismiss the command from power.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><strong>Leaders are made</strong></p>\n<p>On the other hand, from the other extreme, it can be argued that there is a certain bias when it is stated that these managers are \"leaders of birth\". The arguments go through to defend that leadership is not a natural ability, since we can all be it if we propose it (it depends, basically, on the development of the personnel and the attitude that is taken):</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Many managers who succeed in certain organizations, fail in others.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>There are people who become leaders under certain conditions, when until now they had not identified themselves as such.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The capacities of the good manager can be learned, if there is the right predisposition and motivation.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><strong>Leaders are born and made too</strong></p>\n<p>The conclusions reached by the investigations of the last decades reveal that, in fact, there are people who, given their character, show authentic leadership qualities. However, most people need to learn and experiment to become good managers. It is also important to note that there is no single effective form of leadership, but that different and equally successful leadership styles can be found, depending on the organization in which they are.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>In conclusion, the following are the main characteristics that every good manager should have (regardless of whether it is born or if it is done):</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The good manager is an example and a reference for his family.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Your success is measured by the results, not by your popularity.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The leader is distinguished because he has vision, promotes change and anticipates the future.</p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fk76zselx","appParentAuthor":"mistakili","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
