Not really. It’s generally sold to people as ‘BitCoin’ or ‘DogeCoin’ and people understand what coins are. What generally starts discouraging them is when they hear that ‘oh, it’s super easy to use!’ Trezor Hardware Wallet | The original & most secure bitcoin wallet. Just buy your own hardware wallet with a twenty-five word password—if you lose that password, all of the money you own is irrecoverably gone. https://bitcoin.org.. Then choose from one of a gajillion software wallets. Remember, if you pick the wrong one or configure it incorrectly, all of your money is gone forever. Then, you have to find out what the ‘address’ is to the person you want to send your Bitcoins. Remember, if you make a typo, all of the money you’ve sent is gone forever—there’s no bank to recover it for you! Then, hopefully, the person you sent the Bitcoin to sends you the item you want. Remember, no fraud protection—there’s no bank to recover it for you! Unless, of course, you use a third party, but the entire reason you got into Bitcoin was you didn’t trust third parties, right? And THAT’S what discourages people. Rightly so.
