Religion is simply a set of rules that have been designed to keep people in bondage, at least that's my own perception about it. Religion involves set of morals, set of rituals, that are performed from time to time and really involves stiff penalties for defaultersl

In true freedom is the ability to do what's right in one's own eyes. So, if you have to think about doing something not because you want to but because you have to then that's not freedom. The very concept of freedom entails the ability to make decisions for oneself without having to resort to external influences.

Religion forbids people from eating certain kinds of food, going certain places, dressing in certain ways and so many other conditions.

Religion at best seeks to restricts someone's choices, notions, believes, in to conforming with the norms and beliefs of the particular religion. And isn't conformity the jailer of freedom?

And that's the reason why I am an advocate for Christianity. It's so because christianity is not a set of rules, it's not the case of strenuous moral strivings. It's simply exemplifying the nature of Jesus. Christianity doesn't keep people in bondage rather christianity is freedom from shackles, bondages and anything that seeks to enslave. In Christianity, people aren't advised to stick to a set of rules, codes of conduct but to simply live their lives exemplifying the nature of Him that has called them and this is done not by their efforts but by relying on the finished works of Christ.

That does it then.

Religion enslaves but christianity makes free.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"p3m62e985","appParentAuthor":"kunlele","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
