Off-chain solutions are mainly evolving in order to solve the problem of scalability. But apart from scalability there are other advantages of off-chain transactions over on-chain transactions.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Normally in on-chain settlement, one has to wait for network confirmations, so it is obvious that it takes time. But in off-chain transactions it is immediate and it can be recorded without having to wait for the network confirmations. So off-chain transactions are faster.</li>\n <li>In general the off-chain transactions are either free, so one can get rid of high transaction fee. So off-chain transaction are cheaper.</li>\n <li>In on-chain transactions, anyone can see the transaction from the public ledger and every transaction can be easily seen. But in off-chain transaction transfer is not visible.
