There's no doubt about that. But you find out that less and less people are interested in the art and you begin to wonder what has gone wrong. The truth may not always be clear but if you look deep enough you'd see it.

First and foremost, people should understand what poetry is and what it stand for, like knowing the benefits.

Growing up, we were taught the benefits of things and those are usually the stimuli, the impetus to go on with those activities. For example, we were taught that if you could learn, go to school you will grow up and be able to have a good job. We were taught that you should tie the lace of your shoes so that they don't come off everytime and look like a clown. We were taught these things and given reasons why we do them and these reasons were what kept us at them. Today, people are not made to understand the importance of poetry. It's just thrown at their faces and then they are expected to gulp them down and that with appreciation. That's wrong.

The truth is that poetry has been made to seem difficult, like it is only for those who are intellectual, those who are nerdy, those who have the gift of interpretation. This tends to scare people away and many people shudder at the thought of having to write or interpret poetry. There seems to be a cloud of shame hovering around the writing or interpretation of poetry. There seems to be something wrong about it nearly every time. For example, they say you are wrong to buy this thing or you are wrong to not buy it; you are wrong to go to school or you are wrong to not go to school; you are wrong to be working in an office or you are wrong to not be working and office.

So you can see that poetry seems most times to be snobbish, it seems most time to be a game of equations and not everyone can flow with this.

So, if people are going to like poetry, then it has to be introduced to them. It has to be taught in a way that would seem beneficial to them. I mean no one wants to do anything, to know anything that will not be beneficial to them. We are by nature concerned about what we can gain from everything that we do and that factor has to come to play in teaching and promoting of poetry.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkjtaxtd5","appParentAuthor":"martinstomisin","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

Poetries sometimes use complicated words and/or some rhyming style that makes it not so easy to understand for us not used to reading those kind of things.
\n
I know some poetries are open-to-interpretations but it would be nice if poets could use simple relatable words and delivery so that we could really understand and feel the poem. I guess what I'm saying here is: If possible, poets should adjust to us the normies. :)
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkjtaxtd5","appParentAuthor":"martinstomisin","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
