As AI and technology in general develops and becomes more and more capable and the fields of robotics and nano robotics become more and more advanced many of our current job roles will become obsolete. Many roles in manufacturing, accounting, information services etc will be done faster and more accurately by a machine. This will mean that in the future these kinds of jobs will go they way of the barrel maker of the ironmonger. Im not saying they will die out but they will be less commonly done by a human being and when they are it will be more of a novelty. Now that all sounds pretty bad if you're an ironmonger but much like people moved on from these trades people will move on from the trades that are taken over by technology in the future. People will bemoan the fact the nobody does these jobs anymore and the 'art form' is dying out but they will, i believe eventually go. You see, human innovation has always created jobs and then subsequently removed jobs as varying rates and, although t is hard to look at people losing their jobs as a good thing at the time, eventually people will move on and find new and constructive things to do with their time. It might even be that the point will come where AI and robot perform so many activities that the current mould of people going to school, going to university then getting job for 40odd years will die out too. If we don't need to work because every role can be fulfilled by a machine then that model becomes obsolete and we end up in a post capitalist automated state perhaps where people can basically just enjoy their lives with robots or machines delivering everything we need for us. </p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fk67lmq4w","appParentAuthor":"iambrave","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
