It has only been renamed, legalised and even accepted in some countries.
\n
Modern slavery has to do with a degree of human exploitation that makes men, women and children work under threat, harassment and even sexual abuse. Much of modern slavery is not visible to the public. It takes place in homes and on private farms. Moreover, many of these people must work without receiving any payment, due to debts contracted or business with third parties.
\n
For example, it is no secret to anyone that in Thailand thousands of people are forced to work on fishing boats, where they can stay for years without even being able to see the coast. The same is true of the United Kingdom, where children are known to be enslaved working in nail salons or mariguana factories. Not to mention the sexual slavery that has increased and taken an increasingly monstrous course. It is no longer just women who are the victims, there are also children who are trapped and exploited in this way.
\n
A few years ago, I watched a television report denouncing Nestlé for having thousands of children working on cocoa plantations in a state of slavery. I remember talking about more than 15,000 children between the ages of 9 and 12 sold as slaves on cotton, coffee and cocoa plantations in Côte d'Ivoire. Some children are sold to traffickers by their parents desperate for poverty, while others are kidnapped. These modern slave traders sell children to cocoa plantation owners. So how does it feel to eat this brand's chocolate knowing that?
\n
If we observe that slavery has to do with forced labor in exchange for nothing or a miserable salary and the constant threat for us to do our work, we will realize that there are many of us who are slaves. This confirms that slavery has not been eliminated but has mutated into other forms and other names. Some call it working for a living! In Venezuela we say, in order to \"SURVIVE\".
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"p3vawjwaq","appParentAuthor":"cryptorg","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
