Do you have the space for it to run around? Do you have time to walk?
\n
Dogs can be very expensive with vets bills that can be huge, do you have a contingency plan in place if its ill?
\n
You must also consider the breed, or the size if its a mongrel. Read up about the breeds you are considering and make an informed decision based on your circumstances and not because of what your heart tells you is cute1 Remember that dogs are a part of the family and can live 12 years or more.
\n
Do you have kids? How is the breed going to get along with them? Some breeds can be jealous and short tempered and may nip a small child.
\n
When youve decided whats best, go to a stray dogs home or a dog pound and have a look at all the gorgeous dogs who would just love a forever home. Play with the ones you like, is a bond being created?
\n
If you do insist on a pedigree puppy, check the breeders credentials and always see the puppy with its parents.,Single breed breeders are best as they will be able to give you good advice and are usually more responsible breeders as opposed to puppy farms whihc are purely a business, throwingnpups out early and not caring who they sell them to.
\n
Enjoy being a responsible and loving dog owner but please, please get one from a pound who really needs a loving home. Your dog will repay your love a million times over!
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"f3jl23785","appParentAuthor":"oduoye","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
