| json_metadata | "{"app":"Musing","appTags":["steemit","steem","blockchain"],"appCategory":"steemit","appTitle":"Why can't you sent personal messages on steemit?","appBody":"<p>There is a way to send a personal message which alot of people forget about, using steem chat to connect with people is a great way, there is 3 bars at the top right hand corner of the screen, you click that and in there is steem chat.</p>\n<p>add the person you want to message and hope (with your fingers crossed) that person will get back to you.</p>\n<p>I am on discord as I find that is a great way to make new friends and chat about other things other than steemit.</p>\n<p>I would like to see something more than just these features on steemit but with how things are after the hardfork I think that it will be come less as a lot of people like to use their favorite apps now instead of the steemit platform. this is just my opinion </p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkb6vzldx","appParentAuthor":"niel96","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

Nothing ever gets deleted nor edited in here! (If you edit something in here it is only edited on the UI or front-end, the original message can still be seen on blockchain explorers)</p>\n<p>People love transparency but hate it when their transparency is the one being put on the spotlight. Just imagine if a guy tried to hit on a girl via a personal messaging built on top of Steem and gets rejected! That rejection can be viewed by all and is stored on the blockchain for ETERNITY! I don't think anyone would even want that. </p>\n<p>The closest thing to a \"personal\" messaging feature on Steem is the \"<strong>memo transfers</strong>\". Some people don't know this but you can encrypt your memo by adding the \"<strong>#</strong>\" sign at the beginning of your message (only works on Steemit.com and probably ESteem atm). Your personal message will be encrypted allowing only the recipient to view the message.</p>\n<p>The problem with this approach is that while Steem is free on \"transfers\" it still has a minimum amount required to send in something. 0.001 Steem/SBD per message might not be much but just imagine if you talk to much. Not to chat and earn. Although, there is a link to a chat channel on Steemit (SteemitChat), this was originally not the purpose of Steemit. There is also Discord, where various Steemians converge to discuss.
