Ned announced some weeks ago that he and a new team are embarking on a new project called _destiny_. As most of us know, steemit has been in the beta stage for 2years now without any signs of change. Ned doesn't clearly state that the project will be stopped, but we can deduce from his statement that _destiny_ would be his priority for now.</p><p>As regards the role of steemit and dapps, and the question of dapp replacing steemit, I will like to start by saying that they all have their place and none can replace the other. As you might have noticed the blockchain is diversifying, with the development of different dapps for various purposes. Steemit is basically a blogging site but the steem blockchain is more than that now. The only thing I suspect will happen or is happening rather, is the shift in usage of steemit. With so many alternative steemit is beginning to lose its appeal and it is only a matter of time before it becomes obsolete.
