| json_metadata | "{"app":"Musing","appTags":["Steemit"],"appCategory":"Steemit","appTitle":"What makes reputation score drops on steemit?","appBody":"<p>From what I understand from been on the blockchain for over a year a reputation score is something you earn while posting.</p>\n<p>If a person was to copy and paste a blog from a 3rd party sauce this would get downvoted and that would have an effect on your reputation score.</p>\n<p>I do believe the higher the persons rep and voting power on here has more influence on said flag meaning a greater fall in reputation score.</p>\n<p>When using steemit I have found that my reputation increases the more people upvote my posts.</p>\n<p>I have also delegated to steem-ua and when they upvote my post they leave a nice message that tells me where I rank on the reputation that they have in use. they use a form of mathematics to find out where you stand and where you blog post has reached. it is pretty cool to see where you really are on steemit. </p>\n<p>I hope this answered your question.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pk6yhqzl5","appParentAuthor":"olele","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

Basically, the factors that matter in changing your reputation score on Steemit.com are :</p>\n<p>1. You need upvotes to increase you reputation score.</p>\n<p>2. Higher the value of an upvote, the more positively it affects your reputation.</p>\n<p>3. Flagging decreases you reputation score.</p>\n<p>4. Higher the weight of the flag, the more negatively it affects your reputation.</p>\n<p>The higher the weight of the flag/upvote is, more it affects your reputation</p>\n<p>The basic idea is that to effectively level up your reputation score, you need to add more and more upvotes and less of flags. Reputation score becomes increasingly difficult to increase as you reach higher levels. Even a single upvote can get you from 25 to 35 reputation but to get from 65 to 75 is a totally different matter. </p>\n<p>Frankly I don't worry all that much about my reputation score. I wont say that I do not care for it completely but rather that I don't find it truly reflective of somebodies true standing in the Steem ecosystem. </p>\n<p><u>Note: </u> I personally feel that reputation score on steemit can be gamed. Downvote/Flag - The major factor that contributes to one's reputation to decrease is receiving a downvote or a flag either on his/her blog posts or comments/replies that is still in pending payout.</p>\n<p>All downvotes/flags on posts/comments past payout will not have an effect on one's reputation score.</p>\n<p>2. The Reputation of the Downvotee - By the Steem Blockchain's rule, there will only be a decrease in one's rep if the downvotee is of higher rep than the one being downvoted on.</p>\n<p>What this means is that even if an account who has a reputation of 60 downvotes a user with rep 61, it will not lower the rep of the one being downvoted on. Since 60<61.</p>\n<p>It is also worth to note that Reputations are exponential. An account with a rep of 70 is 10+ times stronger than an account of 30. Meaning it is easy for high rep users to make a low rep account go into zero or the negatives.</p>\n<p>Upvote worth or value and even Steem Power are not considered in Reputation calculation. The Upvote Weight however also counts.
