It was a known fact that taking sleeping pills was one of the most common ways for people to commit suicide back in the days. That's because the sleeping pills taken in overdose with will most probably shut down the nervous system, respiratory system and pretty much all functions of the body.

The process was usually without pain or agony and many women were used to taking the pills when they wanted out of this world. That's because the chemical combination has been altered and are less severe.
