Question answered on Musing.io
I have subscribed to both over the last few years, but now I don't have Netflix at all and I primarily use Amazon Prime for free shipping and whatever other non-streaming/video services it provides.

I do end up on other streaming apps (CBS All Access, CW, Hulu, ESPN) to watch television shows, and for the most part, I'm watching live sports programs on TV.

So, the answer for me is, Netflix and Amazon Prime are a big part of the emerging move to streaming, but they're more geared to movies and original programming, with a more limited access to television programming, while some of these other apps are either strictly for a channel, or more limited when it comes to cinematic offerings.

It's possible that Netlfix and Prime are creating a market for those who weren't inclined to watch television anyway, while the others are actually drawing audience from over-the-air or cable channels. As long as those folks are watching the television shows one way or the other, it doesn't matter.
