There will always be criminals operating outside the law (which of course is what makes them criminals lol) that will continue to grow and sell illegally.</p>\n<p>Also a problem I foresee is the distribution and it reaching the hands (or lips) of minors (based on whatever the law deems minor). There are currently laws that prevent the sale of alcohol or tobacco to minors and yet we all know how effective those are (laughably so). I don't see this being any different.</p>\n<p>Whether or not that portends trouble down the road I am not qualified to say, but it is a concern.</p>\n<p>Overall I would rather have it (and some other \"vices\") legalized and taxed heavily in order to benefit society than continue to have them operate in the gray fringe area they do now where only criminals benefit from the profits.</p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"p3j2urm7x","appParentAuthor":"rasamuel","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

The way they have done it I think is fine.</p>\n<p>If you grow it for your own purposes and don't sell it I have no problems. It needs to be regulated and made available for health reasons. I have been amazed on what benefits certain people have after smoking the weed.</p>\n<p>It has been proven to help people with Parkinson disease which affects the nervous system. The one video I saw was a gentleman whose whole body was shaking uncontrollably and he couldn't talk very well. Within minutes of smoking the weed he was sitting and talking normally. This chap and thousands like him would benefit immensely from legalization.</p>\n<p>If doctors could freely prescribe marijuana for certain patients I am sure they would. I know certain cancer patients use it as a pain remedy and to relax themselves.</p>\n<p>I think that there are so many users out there already legalizing it around the world makes sense. Partially because I consume it myself, but also because I think it's the best way to actually prevent people from getting addicted to it. </p>\n<p>Think about it, by keeping illegal, problematic users are far less likely to seek help for their addiction, just because it's illegal and they could get into trouble with the law. </p>\n<p>If cannabis is fully legalized, then they can implement proper age restrictions, while also providing people with honest information about the possible risks associated with using it. </p>\n<p>In the end I think everybody should be able to decide for themselves what sort of substances they use, as long as they do not harm other people. Placing drugs in general into the criminal sphere is an unethical approach towards trying to curb drug abuse. <p>I think it's ok to legalize it if a proper framework is created to sell it and distribute it but I'm more worried about the people that have been convicted with minor possession crimes, they should get released and their records cleaned. </p><p>Personally I don't consume drugs, tobacco or alcohol but I'm not against legalizing it because you should be free to do whatever you want with your body and especially if it doesn't really affect other people plus it will create a new thriving economy predicted to reach over 10 billion dollars yearly right now but I'm assuming it will be even bigger. </p>
