Well to me it's pretty simple, I strongly doubt there's anyone who's on musing who's not here for some form of monetary gain, or who hasn't expected some sort of reward for the effort they put in to answering their questions. I know alot of people who say that they don't care about getting upvoted and they simply just love answering questions, well the truth is that it's easy to type whatever makes you look good in front of the curators but deep down, we have all at least once, expected an upvote for a question we answered.

Look at it this way, imagine if you took your time to study and think alot to answer a question, you looked through books and websites, found the relevant info and then threw in some really nice pictures and editing for effect and it all comes out beautifully. Even if you didn't do it for the upvote, a part of you is still going to expect to get a good upvote for that answer and you just might be upset if you don't.

What I'm trying to say is that regardless of if a person claims to only be here for the community, we're also here for the upvotes as well and I don't think it's actually a bad thing. There was a slogan that was raining on steemit a couple of moons ago, it went \"Come for the money and stay for the community\", I think that perfectly describes what most people experience when they join musing. It was exactly the same for me. Granted I'm a teacher at heart and I love explaining things and answering questions for the people I tutor, but the main reason I joined musing was for the upvotes.

The thing is that even when things were a little tough and I wasn't answering as many questions as I used to, and it seemed like I wasn't getting as many upvotes as I used to, I found myself still telling other People to join up and still talking with people on the discord group because as much as I loved the upvotes, I'd also grown to love the community, so much so that I even asked a question on how we could give back to musing or if anyone has any plans of doing anything for musing for rewarding us so much.

I think that to operate optimally on musing, your motivation for being here should have a bit of both community love and upvote love, because it makes you put your best foot forward in all your answers as well as the questions you ask.

Its funny how this all started because of a single statement I made in the discord group and after thinking about it I realized that statement might have been a little rash, but thanks to @rasamuel for asking this question and letting me think things through a bit. Well as far as your question goes, I don't think we must be here for either the upvote or the community alone, we can be here for both and still do just fine.

I hope this helps.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pkchkx8ex","appParentAuthor":"rasamuel","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

But at the same time I have began to enjoy it here. Some questions make me think deeply about certain things, whilst others...well, never mind. Also, it's nice to hear other people's opinion. And by the way, my timeline is boring at the moment.
