By Powerful if you mean Economic Power, yes China is the most powerful country in the world right now. But if you imply Political Power USA definitely beats China right now. USA has natural allies like EU, England, Canada thus its strength increases many folds. Unless and until USA alienates its allies China cannot even imagine beating USA in political Power.
