What did you do about it?","appBody":"
Yes I have been bullied before when I was young. When I was still a child, I am so skinny and I have a darker skin than the others because I really love to play under the sun. Other children would call me different names which translates to \"walking stick\" and \"burnt skin\" as well as other names they could imagine. The bullies are very creative in making names which would really hurt my feelings, they can also influence others to bully me as well. Those nicknames they gave me are just words but as a soft child, I would go home crying.
\n
I thought when I grow up, I will not be bullied anymore about it but I was wrong. Even when I hit puberty, the nicknames stayed but unlike when I was a child, I don't cry as often as I used to. Also, I developed a thick skin in response to the nicknames people call me. But there are times when I really can't take it and I have to fight back. I would go to my mom and tell her what happened and my mom would talk to the bully's mom who would lecture them about it. In our place, kids listen to their mothers so discipline is taught by the parents.
\n
Growing up, I realized that I cannot change the bullies but I can change how do I react about what they say. So I turned the nicknames they gave me as jokes. Whenever they say it, I just laugh. They were not physical so I really did not give their jokes the attention I used to give. But if their jokes are really not funny anymore and they hurt my feelings, I confront them with it and other bullies regret their jokes sometimes when they see a person really hurt. So I think talking to them that what they are doing are not funny anymore somehow helps. I cannot really speak to how to deal with bullying because some bullying are very severe that talking to the bullies sometimes won't change their doings and I am not an expert at this kind of dilemma. As for me, that is how I handle it and I know I cannot speak for everyone but I hope my answer helps!
\n

","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pk48e7vyq","appParentAuthor":"tim2009","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
