By that it means, she understands that we, her children also have our wants that might be different from what they, as our parents want for us. This relates to choosing careers.
\n
One example would be when my sister decided not to pursue the career she chose and earned a bachelor's degree. My sister, for so many years tried to like the profession my Dad wants her to pursue but she chose to follow her heart and decided that that profession is not for her and she will not be happy if she choose to that part. My mother understood that we all have our likes and during the early phase, my sister did enjoy the profession she took up but through the years, her liking changed. My mother was very understanding about it and told my Dad that there are really choices in this world, that we have to make for ourselves-the choices that make us happy.
\n
Another example was when I was in college, I have this one subject left for me to eventually graduate but three days before my graduation, my instructor chose to fail me. I was devastated. I felt like I did not only fail myself but failed my family especially my parents as well. She was very understanding that when I went home, she did not ask me what went wrong but instead, comforted me that there are still things to look forward to.
\n
I think her sense of understanding is one that I admire the most because I find it hard to understand other people for their actions. Because of that, I really cherish her, being understanding and I am trying to be like her in the present and in the days to come. Great question and I hope my answer helps!
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"f3ezgeeaq","appParentAuthor":"mulder2000","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
