I like this question very much. it's a topic I myself have been considering for a while; must everyone get married?

Many people today see marriage as a’ do or die’ affair and that's why they do everything to ensure that they get married especially when they're getting older. This sometimes mean compromising their standards. From my own point of view, marriage is not a must. This is because marriage involves a union of two adults who have decided that they want to stay together for the rest of their lives. It is not something that should be imposed on anyone. It is a decision that is made by an individual for himself if he or she sees that there is no need for a union. If I feel that I'll be better being single then why not? I could go for it. I'm not the kind of guy who would want to do things just because people see it as what must be done.

I'm tired of society dictating for us what we should do about our life like. Why can't I be free to do something because I want to do it and not because others think is right? I don't like statusquo and I feel like I'm being boxed when people say or expect I do or conform to their standards because everyone's doing it.

If you check the bible, the apostle Paul never got married and no one had a problem with it. He felt that being single will allow him to leave to the best that God wants him to be. Come to think of it; most times marriage comes as distractions because those things you could do as a single, you can no longer do because all of your actions have to be vetoed by another person and if it doesn't suit the other person’s desires or conscience, it has to be discarded. It kind of limits one’s freedom and I’m a sucker for freedom, a lot of us are. So, why not you do what pleases you? If you do not want to get married then by all means don’t get married. I’m saying this because you find out there’d be suffering in the marriage because the decision was not made by you but was imposed on you by society or pressure from so-called loved ones.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pksstc795","appParentAuthor":"penauthor","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
