There are transaction costs between one currency to another, even within the same blockchain. This is partially what makes trading tokens a potential business opportunity. </p>\n<p>Where it really gets messy is conversions for tax purposes. Where do you even begin to figure out what a token is worth in STEEM and then what that is worth in fiat? Governments will not be bothered if your token holdings are minor. However, once you start making significant earnings, they'll want a piece of the pie. In that respect, having an immutable blockchain leaves an auditable trail. </p>\n<p>The problems with blockchain are slowly being resolved to help spur mass adoption.
