I would say trying to find a solution to fix, to be passionate about fixing that problem and to provide good service or quality product to the customer. The success of a bushiness depends wholly on its reputation. Being predictable to the customer and exceeding their expectations is what will make your business flourish. 
Also doing a lot of research on the market you are trying to break into and being innovative within it. 
An example I came across was that when trying to get into the painting business 2 brothers saw a problem with how contractors behaved with their customers. Being late, not having quality work and being hard to talk to. They simply met the customers expectations by being friendly, easily accessible and did quality work every time. This built their reputation and they had customers lining up for their service vs someone else's.
