Smoking is terrible for you I smoked in college for about 4 years only to awake coughing up a storm in the middle of the night with black mucous. It gave me headaches and overall poor health. Drinking in moderation is not bad but without restraint can lead to severe health problems and lack of productivity. A glass of wine, whiskey or beer once in a while or with food is great. 

I have not smoked a single cigarette since quitting 5 years ago. Occasionally I will have a cigar (once or twice a year) but don't even really enjoy it much anymore.  

Its a strange habit that humans have picked up.
