They might have microchips, they might be equipped with artificial intelligence but they will never be conscious. Consciousness defines human beings. We, as human beings, in my opinion are the only ones on this planet to be conscious. Animals might also have some sense of awareness in them but we are the only ones conscious. On other planets there might be other life forms that are conscious, but here on Earth, form my opinion, it's only us that are conscious. Consciousness does not refer only to taking action and making plans or vice versa as robots can do that also. Conscious beings are able to have feelings, to have empathy to create relationships on such feelings and emotions and so on. Robots using artificial intelligence on the other hand might get very intelligent over time and will probably be able to become autonomous and to all sort of things from the most simple ones to becoming surgeons or something related, but that's not consciousness. It's just intelligence and what makes us unique as human beings is that we are intelligent conscious human beings. That's why we are what we are and robots will never get to that level. At least in my opinion. I don't think a robot will ever get to love anyone or anything thus will never be conscious. Longs story short robots will never become conscious no matter how intelligent they will be. </p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"f3j7cekh85","appParentAuthor":"teribalanre","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
