There is no rain for 9 months and the drought extended for more than a year.
\n
El Niño brought so much heat that almost all water source have dried up. Rivers, streams and lakes became waterless. Farmlands became barren because no plants can withstand the heat. Grasses wilted. Because of this, many animals died of hunger. Animal owners let their cows, carabaos and goats wear green colored glasses so everytime they see a brown grass, they can see it as green. This way, other livestock were saved.
\n
But the greatest effects are to people. We walk miles to look for water source because the water source near the community cannot sustain everyone's water needs.
\n
When the first rainfall fell, we can't thank God enough for being saved. If it had continued for a year, we may not be able to survive.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fk6gqcqaq","appParentAuthor":"thomas90","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"

I'm going to talk about the one I lived about 20 years ago.
\n
I remember I was in college. It was July and I had a final exam, so I shouldn't miss it, so I had to postpone a consultation with the dentist. That afternoon, it was 3 o'clock, I was in the library with a group of friends reviewing the notes and waiting for 4 o'clock to be made to enter the room. I remember at one point we felt the floor shaking, the walls moving and the books falling off the shelves. Immediately people started screaming and running in a frightened manner. We were on the third floor, which meant going down the stairs in a disorderly manner and crying. People were pushing and jumping steps so they could get out quickly. When we reached the bottom of the building, we noticed that a glass door had broken and some people were injured. Chaos, crying, was what predominated in college. As best I could, I headed home. There was talk that some buildings had fallen and many were dead!
\n
When I got home, everyone, thank God, was safe and sound, waiting for me to arrive. immediately the electrical system collapsed, as did the telecommunications. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.9 and a depth of 9.4 km. The energy released by the earthquake was so intense that the seismographs became saturated. Six aftershocks occurred that day. All of us slept outside our homes that day.
\n
The earthquake caused the death of more than 70 people, was caused by a rupture that occurred in the segment of the Falla de El Pilar, caused the total or partial collapse of some buildings such as the \"Residencias Miramar\" in Cumaná, as well as the high school \"Raimundo Martínez Centeno\" and the school \"Valentín Valiente\".
\n
One of the things we thanked God for that day was the fact that I postponed my appointment with the dentist, since his office was located in a building called Seguro La Seguridad, which was destroyed by the earthquake. In other words, if I had not had an exam, I would have died just as many died that day. Thank God, I didn't go!
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fk6gqcqaq","appParentAuthor":"thomas90","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
