json_metadata"{"app":"musing/1.1","appTags":["question","life","health","people"],"appCategory":"question","appTitle":"What should parents do to help their child avoid bullying?","appBody":"
As a parent of two children, I am growing up with my curiosity and energy. However, in this life parents often see this as a hassle. Because of that, parents unconsciously, sometimes they can intimidate their own children.
\n
Parents should avoid intimidation of their children, both intimidation from themselves and from others (not parents).
\n
Try to pay attention to the attitude of the parents when with their children. Have you ever heard of parents who scare their children with words and / or mentally weaken with negative assumptions about their children. For example, \"Erwin (child's name) ...!\", \"Hayo (The word Hayo in the Indonesian perspective is a word used to scare or weaken a child's mental state), what are you doing ?!\", \"Don't play water!\", And the like?
\n
Words as in the example case above, sometimes we are not aware of, suddenly glide just like that. Maybe parents can quibble about the best goals for their children. Maybe it's also because his parents don't want that. Or maybe parents cannot compensate for their abundant curiosity and energy. It could also be because parents feel they know and have lived longer.
\n
For some of these reasons, it may also be said that this is the fault of the Parents who Harm the Confidence of Children, or it could be parents who do not understand managing the prohibitions and orders and how the right attitude towards the Child Play, and because of negative assumptions that can weaken the child's mentality. People should know how to use the word \"Don't\" for children? \"
\n
You as a parent must understand that an intimidation can affect children, even if only once. Imagine if a child is intimidated by a parent every day. This can form a negative mental or mental weakening. Therefore intimidation of children must be avoided.
\n
To find out how to avoid intimidation to children, you should first understand the effects of intimidation.
\n
1. Intimidation hurts feelings
\n
Try to imagine if bullying happens to you. Sometimes just being criticized, we feel uncomfortable, let alone be intimidated. Then try to imagine if our position as children, how they feel (children who are intimidated). Maybe the child does not fully understand our shout or rebuke, but the child can feel that it is a shout. If this hurts the child, it will be a traumatic event.
\n
Therefore, parents need to be cautious and more careful, especially for children under the age of 3 or 5 years, namely the age of forming trust, independence and initiative.
\n
So because the first point is the reason why bullying to children should be avoided. So the way so that you don't intimidate your child, you as a parent should avoid using words that can hurt a child's feelings.
\n
2. Intimidation can reduce self-confidence
\n
Previously I has mentioned, that the age under 5 years is a period of formation of trust, independence and initiative. Intimidation can fail the formation of independence and initiative of children. If this happens, the child will not be confident.
\n
So in this case, you need to understand how to play children, and also you have to master and understand how you manage the prohibitions for your children so that your child is not intimidated by your prohibitions or words.
\n
3. Intimidation makes the child wrong and has difficulty determining his attitude
\n
You need to know that if a child feels insecure, this can shape him mentally. What mentality is formed? Mental built with the raw material of guilt and doubt. This makes the child feel incompetent. The effect is that children have difficulty deciding attitudes and deciding actions.
\n
So, therefore, avoid attitudes and actions that can cause your children to feel wrong and confused.
\n
Besides that, you also have to understand that bullying is one of the causes of reduced creativity and can paralyze your child's creativity.
\n
So, therefore, avoid harsh comments, shouting, and harsh rebuking on your child because it can make a child feel wrong and cannot determine his attitude. Furthermore, because of your loud comments and rebuke, the child becomes hesitant or afraid of being creative which leads to the death of his creativity.
\n
Hopefully this answer can be a reference for parents to avoid intimidation of their children.
\n
You understand more about the character and attitude of children, so the effective solution is you as a parent them.
\n

","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkgmn7vzq","appParentAuthor":"tim2009","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"

During this time we might see children always doing good things at home. Then why in school does his attitude change?
\n
We may have to find out in advance what caused the child to carry out bullying. After that, we can do something to prevent children from doing future bullying.
\n
There are many reasons children do bullying. Some of them may be because they feel insecure. Another reason, maybe because he wanted to be seen as the greatest, wanted to be famous in school, or other, so he would look for a friend who looked physically and mentally weak to be bullied.
\n
There are also children who do bullying because indeed they do not know the action they did was wrong. According to the child, the action he did was for fun. Usually, children who do bullying are looking for the most different people from their friends. For example differences in body shape, appearance, speech, race, or religion.
\n
Finding the most different victims will make it easier for the child who is bullying to find fault, cornering, mocking, alienating, and oppressing the victim.
\n
In some cases, bullying is part of a pattern of rebellious or aggressive behavior. Children like this usually cannot control anger, hurt, frustration, or other strong emotions. As a result, children vent their emotions by looking at other children. Usually, children who cannot manage their emotions also cannot work with others and do not want to be regulated.
\n
Another thing that could be the reason why children bully is because it mimics the behavior that they often see at home. For example, from the way your sister treats her sister or even how parents educate their children.
\n
Children who often see aggressive and not good behavior in the family tend to treat others in the same way as they often see. Of course, this is not good. So, a family approach needs to be done to prevent children from bullying.
\n
Well, what can we do as parents so that our children avoid bullying?
\n
We cannot consider bullying as trivial but it is a serious matter. This must be stopped as early as possible, even in the slightest aspect.
\n
The following are ways that we (parents) can do to help stop our children from bullying.
\n
1. Talk slowly to the child by good communication
\n
We as parents must ask the child to tell what happened. So in this case, we as parents must be good listeners and avoid blaming children. Blaming a child will only worsen the child's condition. Give the child an understanding that the action he has done is not good because it can hurt someone. Then ask the child about it \"do you want to be hurt\"? of course he did not want to be hurt or treated badly as he did with his friend.
\n
2. Teach responsibility to children
\n
Give education to our children so he understands that he must be responsible for everything he does to his friends.
\n
As parents, we might be able to give small lessons to children, if needed. For example, by reducing the time playing games, forbid children to hold a cellphone or computer at a certain time.
\n
Teach children how to manage their emotions and behave well. And also teach children better ways to react when they are emotional, for example by walking or listening to songs. Teach him to look at things from positive things.
\n
3. Teach children to respect others (tolerance)
\n
Teach children to be able to accept differences, such as race, religion, appearance, economic status, and others.
\n
We might be able to encourage our children to be involved in certain activities, such as extracurricular activities at school, where children can interact with other children from different backgrounds.
\n
Thanks
\n

","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkgmn7vzq","appParentAuthor":"tim2009","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"

Listen to him and let him express his point of view. Then make it clear that you do not accept this kind of behavior. It may be appropriate to give him a consequence related to the gesture of intimidation he has posed, such as apologizing to the other or replacing an object he has broken. Explain to him the consequences of his actions on him and on others. It is important for him to understand that you are taking the situation very seriously and that his behavior needs to change. Thus, he must learn to respect others, to obey the rules and to manage his anger.
\n
You can then decide on the most appropriate measures to help him:
\n
\n
Spend more time with your child and observe his attitude to help him notice his behavior and correct it as needed.
\n
Insist that he respect others and accept people different from him.
\n
Find ways for him to express his anger and frustrations better.
\n
Work with him on his confidence and his approach to others.
\n
If necessary, consult a psychologist or a psychoeducator to help your child better manage his emotions and also to help you cope with this situation.
\n
Talk with your teacher or school principal to find a solution together.
\n
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkgmn7vzq","appParentAuthor":"tim2009","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
