As a scientist, the properties of Aloe vera has always been interesting to me, mainly because there are so many undocumented / placebo effect from this plant. However, not all of them are placebo, and some effects has been proven by science.
\n
After digging around for an anti-acne property of aloe vera, my results show that this seems unlikely. There are studies done on this matter that showed no / extremely low difference between the treatment and control group of the experiment that looked into this.
\n
If you are interested in learning more about the science behind finding out if aloe vera can treat acne, then the following scientific article can be useful: https://scialert.net/fulltext/?doi=ajcn.2014.29.34
\n
These researchers say that \" In conclusion, oral Aloe vera juice may be helpful in decreasing noninflamed and total facial acne lesion counts in patients with mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris, this beneficial effect is not significant when compared to controls\", but if you look at their p-value you can see that it's very, very high, so I think this statement is a big leap. It would be interesting to see this experiment done with more participants to see if there's even a minor improvement with aloe vera treatment.
\n
Anyway, I hope this was helpful, and unfortunately it seems like aloe vera might not be the best treatment for acne..
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"p3t93chh5","appParentAuthor":"kwadjobonsu","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
