It's really that simple.
\n
Now the interesting question is why men have more muscle mass, and this has to do with sexual competition. Speaking from evolutionary terms, an intercourse is much more costly (in terms of resources) to a woman, because the outcome for her is potentially nine months of pregnancy, and 15+ years of child support. The man on the other hand does not really hae to do this, so an intercourse is much less costly for him.
\n
This has lead to females being more picky about selecting a male, and traditionally the strongest male has had the highest reproductive success. Females have not had this evolutionary pressure, so they have not had to invest into develop costly muscles in order to be able to increase their reproductive output. So it makes a lot of evolutionary sense why men have more muscle mass than females.
\n
We see the same thing in lots of places in the animal kingdom, and it's not uncommon for polygamous species to have sexual dimorphism where the male is larger and have more muscles than females. And again, remember that this is all written from a biological point of view.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pk57pcn8x","appParentAuthor":"tatase","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
