They're in a different order (that's a level higher than family). Camels are even-toed ungulates who digest cellulose in their stomach. Horses are odd-toed ungulates who digest cellulose in their gut. Whales are more closely related to camels than horses.</p>\n<p>Horses and camels couldn't even try to interbreed naturally, since horses mate standing up, while camels mate sitting down. On the other hand, all three existing species of camels can interbreed: dromedaries (one hump), Bactrian camels (two humps) and wild Bactrian camels (two smaller humps). </p>\n<p>Besides poaching, interbreeding with domesticated Bactrian camels is threatening the survival of wild Bactrian camels.
