Prolonged stress causes the body to produce the stress hormone known as cortisol. Cortisol causes an increase in appetite leading to overeating and most times what you crave for and foods high in calories, sweetness and this cause a significant increase in body weight.</p><p>2. Memory loss. Stress hormone when released also affects the hippocampus, the area in the brain responsible for storing old memories and creating new memories making it difficult to remember things. This stress most times are as a result of traumatic event in ones life.</p><p>3. Skin problems. Stress causes a spike in androgen, s sex hormone leading to break out of acne on the face. It also affects the immune system, causing rashes and other skin problems.</p><p>4. Gastrointestinal problems: stress can impact the hormones released by thyroid gland that regulates metabolism. When the body is stressed it reverts to a fight or flight mode and this usually affects digestion leading to constipation.</p><p>5.
