I am still seeing reports about how if you don't make above a certain amount (which I almost never make), you are punished and paid even less? But I suck eggs at math so I'm not sure how to compute that for myself.

I think the number I saw was around $10. If you get above that, then you'll be paid more than you were before. If it's below, than in addition to getting 10% less to the rewards pool, you also lose 33% (75 down to 50) of your author rewards, *and* you get the haircut from the converging linear curve. You know it was a rich person who wrote that code. 

You don't have to be math smart to know this is a bad deal for a majority of the Steem community. If someone shows me the math to refute that, I'll issue a retraction, but until then I'll just collect smaller rewards.
