I spend a great deal of time thinking and writing about Steemit development and although my ideas may fall short and be wide of the mark at times, the general direction is towards an improved future position. Not necessarily mine. 

Technology plays a function in our world, always has and always will. From the harnessing of fire, the development of the wheel to going to mars on a rocket - the technology created has a utility and a generalised purpose to make our human lives better, easier, more fulfilling. Well, it did. 

These days, technology has largely been incentivized to make money alone and if something does not fill this purpose, it gets left by the wayside. Even the development of medication is planned with a ROI in mind rather than the reduction of suffering.

For me, technology must be developed with a larger picture in mind, one that aims to make the world better in some way and support us to be better as individuals and a society as a whole. Something that looks to increasingly include and encourage members to be a valuable part of the group.

Thinking about Steemit for me has much larger implications than solidifying my position here as the platform is a microcosm of the real world and a proverbial petri dish of behaviours. The beauty is that everyone is involved in the experiment and anyone can investigate, learn and change to influence the system in some way. 

Thinking, writing, reading, listening helps me better understand the architecture and observing the behaviours gives insight into how we affect *and* it affects us. There is so much of value to learn here that goes beyond the trivialities of average social media and looks deeper into who we are as a global community. If we can solve some of the problems that we face on this platform, we simultaneously create a road map that has the potential for application to the larger world.

This of course is going to be the major value of cryptocurrencies and blockchains. People think there is value now but, wait until they start challenging the practical status quos and solving what was deemed 'unsolvable' by the middlemen experts. 

There are larger implications again though, at least for me. Well, larger and much, much smaller as it is for the future world my daughter will inhabit that I do my thinking, present my ideas and, argue at times. But, not for her alone as a world of massive inequality is unsustainable in the long-term view of humanity. As is a world where only a few support the many, even if they can. 

There has to be a distribution of resources that maximises community and individual potential and, minimises suffering within the same. Technology should be developed to support this, especially community based technologies such as Steemit. 

But, it can't be some kind of insensitive flawed concept of 'fairness', it has to be tied to things like performance, opportunity, development, growth, willingness, effort and the push to be community orientated through development of the individual. 

I will do all within my power to give my daughter the best opportunities I can so she can reach her own potentials but, I hope to instill in her that she will have a debt to pay for access, one that goes forward, not back to me.

She will never owe me anything but, I will always owe her.

I owe it to her to do the best I can to make her's and her peer's future the best it can possibly be, no matter the domain. Whether it be the education she has access to, the air and water quality to breathe and drink or, the economic situation she will operate within, I owe her my best efforts as she did not choose this life.

But, she will owe the world her own life and every beauty she sees and experiences, will come at a price of responsibility to ensure that her children or those of others will have increased access to the pool of wonder that this life holds. 

It is idealistic I know yet, here I am, doing my best even though it will never alone be enough to make a significant difference. But, it becomes part of the conversation that drives us a species forward, a slice amongst billions of slices that make us up into a species, a movement of memory that will continue on well past the life of any individual, or the memory of any individual.

You may not agree, you may choose not to be a part or actively work against my views but, that doesn't matter either, it is just another hurdle to negotiate, another bit of effort I must put in or, a little more time it will take to get it right. You are free to do as you please.

But just as you are free in your thought and action to work with or against, I am free in mine. Just as you have freedom of thought and word, I have freedom of thought and response to your words. We may fundamentally disagree on everything yet, it doesn't stop us from speaking together, discussing options, discovering better ways to move forward. It doesn't even stop us from being colleagues, friends, partners. 

We need to get out of this thinking of competition based on group level division and instead look at competition toward best possible action to satisfy the larger goals of humanity. There is a fundamental difference between the two forms as one is built based on inclusion for betterment, the other on oppression and violence to win.

It is simple.

People will argue that it is much, much more complicated than this but it is not as no matter the complexity, with thought, testing and action aiming toward harmony of functions, eventually, the symphony will play together.

What happens when the human potential of all is maximised? I don't know, but I would like to try to find out.
