Yes that's true. 
I got to that reply cause I read in some book that the author didn't care about intellectual property and that you may change everything in the book and spread it if you like.
I remember being surprised because it had a very specific message. 

(I thought I remembered which book it was but I looked and couldn't find that particular text in the book I thought it was.)
