How your life unfolds around you has everything to do with your perspective. The dictionary definition of perspective: a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view. <p><div class="pull-right">https://steemitimages.com/DQmbSU5DmfPkL2PSesUkg7ELhNEbdv25vNXEPbvHx2awcAC/man-2933984__340.jpg</div> Have you ever walked around a metropolitan city, feeling the energy and hustle and bustle of the busy people, hearing the blasting of horns and screeching of brakes, seeing all the little nooks and crannies of tiny bakeries and corner shops, and then look up. The skyscrapers tower above you, making you feel rather small and insignificant. Then you go up in one of those high rises and look down upon the busy city. The cars look like Hot Wheels and not menacing or loud at all. The people are like tiny ants. All the details of the shops and streets are lost. And it seems rather quiet up there on the top floor near the clouds. The city is still the same. **You just altered your perspective.** Every life experience you have had up to this point shapes your persective, or how you view situations and experiences. If you grew up in a negative household, chances are you are a pessimistic person and view everything that happens in your life in an unfavorable fashion. And you probably daydream about future events with a cynical eye. Similarly, if you were raised to see the silver lining, situations appear differently to you than they do a more negative person, which in turn creates more of the same. Like begets like. Positive attracts positive. Perspective play the lead role in how your life goes. If you look at the events and problems in your life as if they are bad things that will bring you down and ruin you, they will do just that. But if you change your perspective and look at them as a learning experience or something you have power over, then you do. You have the power. ### Your perspective dictates your outcome. <br> What you focus on is what you attract. Have you ever noticed that the more you stress about an issue, the worse it seemed to get? That's the cincher, as you mull over the dilemma you focus on all of the things that are going wrong so nothing will be resolved. If you change your perspective to think more positively it becomes easier to not become overwhelmed by the issue and to instead be open for and find the solution. <br> So how do we change our perspective? As I mentionsed earlier, everything you have experienced thus far has shaped your perspective. Changing anything does not happen overnight, it is something you will have to work on but it does get easier. The most important thing is to be aware. Once you start catching yourself you will train your brain to recognize when you are falling back into your old patterns and alter your way of approaching things. Remember, thoughts are energy, and energy is the form of all lie. You cannot do anything without first thinking it. <br> Here is a simple and fun little exercise to help you change your perspective which produces profound results. You don't have to be an artist to do this. Sketches and doodles are just fine, this is only for you and your brain. #### Items needed: <p><div class="pull-right">http://i67.tinypic.com/2u4hv5z.jpg</div> Paper and pen or Your favorite drawing app Photo #### Exercise: Take a photo or image of something, simple is fine but you want something with substance- so a triangle or super simple shape will not work. For this instance I will be using a picture of a face. Print the portrait and set it so it is upside down, with the forehead on the bottom and the chin on top. Now that you have changed the perspective in which you are veiwing the face, you will then draw it. Upside down just as you're viewing it in front of you. When we draw, we often don't draw what we are actually seieng- we draw what we thing we see. What we have been conditioned to see. The biggest obstacle to changing our perspective is to push aside everything we have been trained to "see" and clear our minds so as to start from scratch. To see it the way it truly is without pre-conceived notions. They say that your first reaction to something is how you were ttained to view the world, but the thoughts that happen after are your own. When I first saw this title I thought it was change your prespective with exercise. I use exercise often to get me out of a funk. But changing perspective is definitely a must if you want your life to change. I read a NLP book once that told me all about the "thinker" and the "prover". As in what you think you will things to prove that point. And will millions of bits of information flowing in every second. There is a way of nearly proving any point which is why a prespective change is required. Thanks for the reminder.

Very good post ! I grew up in a an extremley negative household. And you are right, it's a default setting, automatically seein gthings inthe 'negatvie' Fortunately for me, my essential nature is the eternal optimist. When crisis hits, I _still tend_ to go off on the negative,(grrr) and then my optimism kicks in, and I start seeing things differently - positively. My modus operandi on crisis tends to be... 1/freak out and pace moodily for a few hours 2/ have a few beers. lol (time permitting - depending on the crisis of course) 3/Start the next day in a positive frame of mind, and get working on the problem!
