I am very struck by how you can turn off your empathic perception at will, I guess that requires discipline and mastery over emotions that may arise spontaneously. > I get very emotional unconsciously when I empathize deeply with someone. If someone with whom I feel a strong connection starts to cry, I feel like crying too. (Of course, this only happens to me with friends and acquaintances). This has generated in me an unhealthy attachment to some people with whom it was difficult to keep some distance, because I come to esteem them as if they were part of my family. But it is as if I was sinking in an emotional trap.
