correct. pi2 requires a usb wifi card. pi3 had a pretty big boost in performance as well, but as a music server/storage server.. pi2 works great... wired in. I also have it running a small lcd display.. basically all that tinker type stuff can be done on the pi2. glad you are having fun with it!
