Hyperion is a super cluster of galaxies. It is billions of years old. The reason that we can see it now is that it has taken the light from Hyperion billions of years to travel to our solar system and be detected by human made instruments. 

It makes the brain work hard to try to truly understand how we can ‘see’ something so ‘old’.  The reason is that we are looking at something from over 20 billion years ago. The supercluster does not currently look as it does in the video above. 

The better our instruments get, the better we can understand the history (and future) of the universe. 

The more that I learn about space, the more I am confused in a wonderfully positive way. Each time I am confused is another opportunity to further understand.
