Anyway, my offer to participate in the Whitepaper development project is presented herewith. My contributions  would probably exclude coming up with 'bright new ideas', and, fortunately,  there seems to be no shortage of people around you who are ready to do just that.
My offer is to bring into the team someone with a fairly deep background in public communications (from a fairly high corporate position) and who has spent countless hours trying to make technical points clear to students. I would be more than happy to give you the details behind "fairly deep background"; but I would rather do that in personal emails rather out here on the block chain.
I propose to contribute towards the review process concerning the overall organization of the document and the flow of thought among main ideas within its sections, and (perhaps more important) clarity of expressed concepts and ideas. 
The key function of my proposed contribution would be to bring to the attention of team members terminology and ideas which they all take for granted as being clear (as regards meaning), or having been defined, when from the perspective of a person looking in from the outside (a person not in the inner circle) important things need to be clarified if you're going to effectively cross the bridge from the inner circle to the outer world where a great deal of effective SMT marketing seems to lie ahead as a challenge.
Although my professional background allows me to say without any embarrassment that I might expect compensation for the service, I wish to say now that the service will be volunteer work done for Steem Inc.
Have you considered placing the White paper development process into a Github account?
