My question is, it is bad to vote for yourself? If it is then why did the community allow it?

Because the vast majority of people had no power before June 20th and didn't notice the problem. Now everyone know about it and people finally realize it's a problem. People are mainly against self-voting spam comments.

The majority of the community is probably against it, in terms of numbers. The numbers, in terms of stake, are a whole different story. And, as https://steemit.com/steemit/@calamus056/self-voting-user-list-since-hf19-part-3-potential-comment-abuse shows, it's nearly 1/3 of the rewards pool going to this. As calamus points out, and as I said early on when I started commenting on the subject, before HF19, only whales could substantially self vote. As for 'the community', that's irrelevant. Stake is everything. The stake controls the witnesses, and the Github 'issues'. They arbitrarily define changes that relate to game-rules as 'feature requests' and define them as unacceptable and will ban you if you try to submit more than a few such issues. I doubt that Stinc is ever going to change it. Not before they have had their fun milking the rest of the pool and diluting all the investors' holdings. Of course, they still don't have enough. Especially not @dan larimer, who also just creamed several million with the EOS ICO. Never enough for these people. It's on account of people like this that I like to believe in Hell.
