I really don't see why there aren't more than one fork at the same time. If there's an alternative to HF22, why not do it as a community? Well, I know, this is cheap talk, since I don't operate a witness node (yet). However, that's why I'm asking!

It's normally better for the community to unite under a single consensus algorithm. Forks create split communities that can't get stuff done as quickly. Strength in numbers and all that; Network effect. With SMTs coming out soon™ we'll have the opportunity to change the rules however we want and see if they take root.
