See, the reason I would refrain from upvoting a post that had poor spelling or grammar regardless of the message, is because we are on a publishing platform, where we are supposed to earn rewards for our creations.
If there was no reward incentive I may be more lenient with that of course.
What you publish to the public is a reflection of yourself and your work. Someone who doesn't care to take the steps needed to put out something void of grammar and spelling disasters in my eyes doesn't care enough to be rewarded. I mean, this could be considered their job, if they want to slack then I am going to find someone who takes their job more seriously. (Don't take these analogies too literal please :) )
I'm speaking of the horrendous errors though, I mean we all use incorrect grammar at times without realising and I think I've published every single post with a typo or two that has snuck by my draft reads.. I'm not talking about those.
I literally see posts that it is blatatanly obvious this person did not even read the previous word they typed.. I've seen some terrible posts that I can't even describe what was going through the persons head.. but they write the post on the spot, don't preview it, don't read it back even once, and don't use the simple spell-check our browsers have built in.. To me they should be ashamed to be on a blogging platform creating blogs expecting rewards.
It may sound harsh, and you may look past the presentation to what lies underneath but for me as an author who has always taken pride in both my work and my writing, I can't entertain anything less than what I expect of myself as quality.
(not saying you must not take pride in your work if you do, I'm just explaining that my pride is what stops me from doing so)
I mean yes, we are not bots and obviously if someone has some grammar/spelling issues going on but they have a history of showing they've tried to improve throughout their posts, then of course I would consider that.. it's really a case by case basis type thing.. But if you want my attention and want my help by connecting & networking with each other.. then what you present to the world better be the best reflection of you that you can do.
(`you` is being used in the general context, please don't take it as I'm judging or demanding anything of *'you'* personally)
