It is really hard telling.   I know what you mean.   Sometimes I go back and forth on how well it could take off.   I know when I first got on here in July 2016 it almost seemed like this had a good shot to really take over and make some huge waves immediately.   Then it seemingly got driven into the ground and it wasn't clear if it could survive or have any relevance.   I started to think that it would be a project that could end up on the 2nd or 3rd page of CoinMarketCap that everyone would dismiss because of everything that went on.   Then it rose from the dead.   

It makes a ton of sense for different communities to be tokenized like you say.   To what capacity companies will jump on it will be interesting and how soon that will happen also.   Because everything has to be finished and the Witnesses have to approve it which I believe they will so it will happen.   

And then how will that ultimately change the game will be interesting.   I have noticed that with the price of the STEEM dollar increasing that the payouts have really only increased for a handful of people who are the normal people getting bigger payouts.    My success has actually went down on here and I think it is because more and more people are protecting their power for themselves.   Because even during the summer when STEEM prices got to this level I was making way more on here and getting more votes.   It is interesting how some of the behaviors change overtime.
