Blockchain Based On Solving Criminal Cold Cases

Hello steemians- I'm not a developer (can barely find the on/off switch on my Mac) but I do like to come up with new ideas for blockchain applications.

Not exactly sure how this would work as far as financial rewards go however perhaps the overall funding to contributors could come from rewards for solving cold cases.

With the internet at our fingertips thousands of very sharp minded citizen investigators are blowing the lids of of many a scandal and crime. It's the power of having thousands of eyeballs looking at facts from many different perspectives.

Law enforcement departments seem to never want to release evidence regarding crimes under investigation. I guess in some situations this can be helpful whereby it doesn't give the perpetrators the opportunity to cover their tracks by knowing what those investigating their crime know. That being said I think evidence in criminal cases should all be made public so that we can get the thousands of citizen investigators on the case. I would venture to guess that the benefit of including citizen investigators far outweighs instances where having criminal evidence public would help the criminal.

Perhaps we start this endeavor with cold cases? I mean if a case is ten years old then why not release the evidence to the public?

I think a blockchain app could be applied to incentivize citizen investigators to participate.

I'm so glad you posted this, @thelightreports! I've been hunting for a precedent for Cold Case funding via the blockchain -- not to mention the social media users adding their eyes to a case! You reminded me of  a Blog I want to do, And yes citizen journalists/reporters are doing great research. Many looking into the people that *Control our daily lives* and doing *first class work* Clarifying that People in *powerful positions are exempt from common law*

This is a brilliant idea. I'm researching a cold case right now and it's driving me nuts. Been on it for years. A blockchain based app for web sleuths is totally going to happen someday. I may even reference this idea in my book (and will credit you, of course).

Jake, let us know when your book comes out. Jody Ewing has dedicated all her time to Iowa Cold Cases, unpaid (God knows she could use donations or a salary), and I keep urging her to spend more time writing fiction and less on running two websites. I've been thinking Steemit would be one way to raise desperately needed funds. If nothing else, it might help pay Parabon Nanolabs for images of the perps, created from DNA collected at a crime scene. Good luck with the cold case you're working on.

Please message me at the Facebook site, https://www.facebook.com/iowacoldcases/, if you would be interested in helping set up a Steemit account for Iowa Cold Cases, in hopes of reaching more readers, and raising some money for Jody. Web sites like ICC's are not free. Jody pays out of her own pocket. Jody isn't "volunteering" because she "doesn't need or want a salary" - Jody's dedicating her life to Cold Cases instead of working a paying job, all out of passion (some would say obsession). I've been spending time at ICC's Facebook site to pick up some of the slack, now that Jody is being forced to slow down by family medical crises (her sister should sue an Iowa hospital for malpractice, and that's just the tip of the iceberg). Thanks, Sighmanjestah. And no problem if you don't even have time to reply.

Great job of thinking outside the box on how to use the blockchain. Although there may be some cold cases that the police really don't want solved.
