WhaleVault is a fork by @alexpmorris and further evolution of the Steem Keychain browser extension.

WhaleVault supports out of the box Steem, EOS, Golos, WhaleShares, Smoke, Scorum, Vice, and more.

Will graphene chains soon have their own Metamask alternative and possibly also integration in dApp browsers? 

While Steem and graphene chains aren’t yet in Trust [Wallet], this browser extension brings us closer to it

No, it needs your private key to properly interact and sign with the chain of choice. It does not save master or brain/WIF key. When using those it will generate your [private] posting key instead and save that one in the extension.

It feels like the expanded version of steem key chain. While steem key chain is limited to steem only, this particular whalevault supports all graphene blockchains like steem, EOS, Bitshares, Golos, Telos etc and many others. One can easily authorize any website safely and securely with this and direct access of private keys is not required. It does not save the master key and hence it is always safe & secure.

My first impression was that it's like Steem Keychain. Nice to see that somebody forked it to add even more functionality. DPoS is going to be one of the biggest technologies when it comes to blockchain. So I see a lot of value in this.

I doubt it. Almost all graphene chains share the same ``cli-wallet`` principle. So it should work for weku and bearshares but I doubt it works for chains with different structures.
