When you vote 100 times it is just a wasted effort and other than showing you like something, it doesn't produce any income for you or for the person you upvote.

You need to get your power meter up to 80 to 100 to get any benefits out of it.  So that means that you SHOULDN'T upvote anyone until then... And then once it gets up to 80 to 100 range, then keep checking it after every vote so that you see what each vote drains from your meter....The meter will go up all the time, but not as fast as you are using it right now.  And btw, the same thing happened to me and almost everyone until they learn like you are right now

So stop looking at it like its a "vote for vote" system, that doesn't work and will waster you time.

Second, you have to build your follower base to get more of a following to get more likes (that is just a function of how many people see it) ... so don't be impatient, I have lots of no people voting on my stuff too, it just take time to create followers and friends.

Third, focus on your content.  You need to post things that are unique to you.  Things like stuff you cook, what you like to wear, how your friends have fun on the weekends, or just thoughts in your mind about life.  Make your posts a small little short story and use the pictures to make the point.  Create the story in your mind and then use the pictures to explain it.

The last post you did was good, I think the problem with is nothing.  You did a good job, but everyone is putting out happy new year posts (including me)... I have 10x more followers than you and I only got like .12 on mine (which is the equivalent to .01 on yours)...

Also don't be impatient... I can tell you are a go-getter type of person that gets things done... And that is very good to be that way... But you also have to realize that you need to harness your drive and keep working hard, but under-set your expectations.  This means, this formula:  1) work hard and use your personality to maximize your potential 2) don't expect big results YET, and have faith that they will come to you if you keep improving and 3) constantly try to learn more and more to improve because you will be better tomorrow than you were today if you follow that advice.

Finally I think due to your personality, you would be smart to use the service called @bumper to increase the value of your posts.  You send them 0.10 SBD and they will upvote any of your posts (like your happy new year post) and you will get your money back plus a profit when you get paid.  You can view their program by clicking this @bumper.  I actually used them today on 4 of my posts and they definitely delivered the results they promised.

Now having said that, while I don't mind you using @bumper to get your competitive spirits satisfied and it will be good for you, the problem with telling you about this before you are ready is that you might not work as hard on the other things you need to do.  You can't expect to have tons of success unless you do all the things you are capable of.

And you have lots and lots of potential (trust me)... But you have to keep learning, go out add make new friends in the comments sections (and talk to the people like they were your friends), and keep your content getting better and better by telling stories with words and pictures.  And also whle you could do 11 of your posts upvoted by @bumper, you might want to just try betweeen 1 and 5 to test them out and see how it works.  You have been on here such a very short time, and you have a lot of time ahead to make things work.

ps.. on your stories, just remember to explain simple things like a reader might ask you... Why did you post it, what does it mean to you, how does it make you feel, why is it important?  Those are questions that if you answer in your post, it will help you to attract people (because they will feel they know you better)

I hope this long message is helpful, I hope you follow my advice and those 3 rules... Over here we have this saying "keep your head down and follow through with your plans, don't be afraid to try new things, learn from all your mistakes, and most importantly have faith"... If God wants you to succeed, you will succeed as long as you do your part and always try to improve yourself every day.

Have a terrific day and stop hitting that vote meter, (I can see it you know) ;) ... Also one last thing, every time you want to hit the "upvote" button, write a message instead.  If you do THAT 100 times a day and write in a genuine comment to the author, you will learn a very very valuable lesson.

Always nice to hear from my fun quirky friend ;) ... I agree about it being overwhelming, but that's only because you (and me) are trying to figure it all out at once. I watch mine all the time now and I its interesting for sure.  It recharges on a continual basis at the rate of 20% per day... So you still have some votes left... The way I think about it is I always want to use my votes if I have them, but I just have to monitor where its at so that I don't run out when I really want one :)

lol @steffistasis, I know... I figured this out 4 days ago and have been trying to get back up, but posts keep coming up and gets to me enough to make me feel compelled to send that upvote.  I'm starting to think I'm "recharge impaired" ;)

Awesome @tecnosgirl, thank you for adding more (and better) information for the people here.  I haven't even gotten into what happens on the "negative" numbers (and hopefully don't experience that for awhile. :)

I understand that it does take a long time to come back up though, I was below 5% when I learned this and I have had to show restraint ever since.  Its kind of a good thing though as I look back, because it taught me how to do other things and engage other people.  Without the simple upvote as a quick expression of favor, I found that I actually had to think about what I wanted to express in a message and accurately reflect that in my messages.  That has been a blessing as I have made deeper impact in the messages than I have ever done on any posts.

Plus a bonus is that I have met hundreds of new people in many different field of life (all around the world).  So being in "recharging mode" isn't such a bad thing afterall :)

Again, thank you for taking the time to give us more accurate information and for also caring what happens to us "newbies" :)

I think at this stage (we're small), you should try to keep it between 90 and 100... It will recharge 20% per day they say, but it seems to take longer the closer you get to 100%... I've brought mine up to 90 now, from under 5%, but it seems like I only get about 8-10 a day without knocking it down too far.  

The other thing to remember is if you aren't going to be on it for a day or 2... In that case you can run it down further since, you won't be around to use it.  When I go on vacation, I'm going to take it down to 1% :)

And one last thing, learning to be on here without upvotes as a crutch to be nice has forced me to make many more comments to people instead of using my upvote.  That has resulted in major amount of likes on my comments, which is much better than any posts that I've made.  So being low on Voting Power can be a good thing if you develop your comment skills to others (because they just might like what you said) !!!
