For the image uploads there doesn't seem to be any real action. Where would they be stored? Is it possible to embed an upload to some other site that the user has an account on? It just needs to be simpler to add an image to a post.

The images that are uploaded using the new interface will be hosted on Steemit's servers. You should also still be able to link to third party images (the same as you can do today).
