Digital currency is in the wind like never before, which has caused many to focus attention on the phenomenon. Now it seems that the electronics giant Samsung plans to get the cryptocurrency people in the face of specially crafted hardware.

As among other things, The Next Web and SamMobile reports, Samsung, according to Korean media, has begun to produce so-called Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) designed to dig for digital currencies such as Bitcoin.

Starting mass production now
Samsung is supposed to start mass production of the pieces in late January, that is, these days. According to the Korean reports, the company will not offer the pieces directly to end users, but to a Chinese player who will use the pieces of hardware intended for cryptographic digging.

It is unclear who this player is and where and when this specially made hardware becomes available. Nor is it known exactly what features the Samsung chips will offer.

Not least, manufacturers of conventional video cards are increasingly targeting cryptographic optimizations, as AMD did with its latest major Radeon update in December.
