My dad is left handed and I can't even duplicate his printing. I've always wanted to write calligraphy, I wish they had taught that in school.. But even if they did, they taught cursive when I was growing up but my handwriting is not very artistic, my printing is neater and _we weren't even allowed to print_ after grade 3, it HAD to be cursive, yet my cursive is ugly (though not chicken scratch, anyone who knows cursive can totally read my writing - however I find people who weren't taught cursive in school have no idea how to read handwriting o_o)

Sorry for missing this earlier!

Actually, my mom was truly ambidextrous, as am I, so she used both hands for most tasks, though she typically signed with her right hand.

My mom was brought up when cursive was meant to not only convey information, but to be beautiful in it's own right, and her handwriting was indeed beautiful. 

Mine is and was more utilitarian, though I've been told all my life that I have beautiful handwriting, though it never approached my mom's level of artistry. 

I was taught calligraphy, and did quite a bit with it for several years, and a friend of mine was even inspired to learn calligraphy himself, in order to improve his handwriting and being it closer to my level.

Which makes it funnier in retrospect that I was never satisfied with my own handwriting, in comparison with that of my mother. We're a contrary lot; we humans.  ;-)
