Until I came to Steem a year ago, I was mostly only interested in the world of organ music and things that are related to it, like instruments. But with Steem and crypto in general, my interests began to expand because here I get to meet all kinds of people with all kinds of interests. I find it very rewarding because as you say, it broadens my horizons. Therefore I recommend not limiting your reading and engagement experiences to your own community but rather activelly seek out seemingly random authors.
