Sketch-up is a sophisticated(_more so all the time_) Computer Assisted Drawing program from Google. It comes in two versions. The free version is call _SketchUp Make_. The very much more _expensive_ version is called _SketchUp Pro_.  Since I’m poor and a natural born cheapskate I’m only interested in the free version.  Oddly enough it can do more than the _very, very_, ***VERY EXPENSIVE*** CAD programs of not too many years ago.

One of the interesting things _SketchUp Make_ can do for __Steemers__ is to allow us to make unique, original drawings for our posts.  They can be remarkably sophisticated.  I’ve been using earlier versions off and on for a few years.  I don’t really know how to use it _BUT_ there’s a new version out and it seems to be much more user friendly than previously.

One of the _many_ good things about SketchUp is the availability of _numerous_ video tutorials

I’m interesting in making a boat.  I’m an odd person (_or so I’ve been told repeatedly_ ) so my boat will no doubt be odd.

Here’s something I did last night with the 2016 version

I’m interested in paddlewheels. SO...I used Sketchup to draw a paddle wheel. The Center Rim is a yuuuuge tire.  That way the ‘craft’ (it seems silly to call it a _boat_) can also move about on land. That way it won’t get grounded in shallow water, can beach easily and possible self portage.

<center> Keep in mind that, except for the last gif, which I took from [wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw-propelled_vehicle#/media/File:Screw_propelled_vehicle.gif) I drew all of the CAD drawings myself, in a fairly short period of time.  I’m as green as grass when it comes to using SketchUp.
