Well dear friend, I think it's impossible to appreciate art without taking the time to appreciate art hehehe. One of my favorite teachers used to say "Art doesn't defend it" and he said it from the point of view that when the work is exhibited, the artist is not going to be standing next to it defending it and explaining it. Everything you wanted to say or capture must be in the work; the public will simply say "I like it" or "I don't like it" with no possibility for the artist to refute it.
At the same time, it is also fair that those who appreciate the work not simply give it a little glance and then pass by, as if it were a mechanical and statistical process of saying I saw so many works today. In this regard, over time I have learned the enormous difference between seeing and appreciating; so when I take the time to learn about other artists' work, I take the time to appreciate it.
In fact, when I appreciate your work there is a silent conversation between you and me; because your concepts embodied in the work communicate with my knowledge, therefore I am able to read and decipher your code. And this is certainly not because he reads minds (although he seems to sometimes hehehe) or because he is a genius, it is simply all there and all you have to do is appreciate it.
I'm long when I write, I guess I don't always like it simple and at the same time I use the right number of words for what I have to say. Likewise, I avoid writing just to say things like "good job", "I like your art" or "good post", because really using a comment to just say that seems empty to me (that's my opinion) because you don't tell the author what his work conveyed to you, or what you appreciated, and at the same time this is of no use to the artist because it would not be possible to differentiate between those who really appreciated your work and those who simply made a comment to you and only that.
